Understanding the fundamentals of management allows us to excel as managers and leaders. This workshop assists you to understand what is needed to be an effective manager, shows you how to improve communication with your team and provides you with insight and techniques to be a respected leader who makes a significant contribution to your team and organisation.

This workshop is applicable for all managers (new and experienced) who have directly-reporting staff.

Workshop Learning Objectives:
This foundational workshop has been purposefully designed to build on knowledge and understanding of how to manage people and business results. It will assist managers to learn and/or be reminded of how to:
» Earn the respect of your team and build rapport and trust
» Be an effective manager – even when busy, stressed and under pressure
» Communicate so as to motivate and align your team and get the results you want
» Regularly provide a ‘natural’ flow of affirming and corrective feedback
» Prepare for and provide corrective feedback tactfully and effectively
» Follow up regularly with direct reports
» Manage your manager’s expectations and influence them too
» Seek out more information and apply new insights.
Format & Duration
A four or six-hour workshop inclusive of facilitator-led discussion, practical activities and role-plays. All participants receive a comprehensive workbook inclusive of checklists and practical tips. The workshop can be augmented with useful reference texts such as the Harvard Business Pocket Mentor books.
The workshop operates well with 6–16 participants. This size allows for individual participant’s questions to be answered and for the workshop to be interactive, conversational and fun.
